Short update, not many changes and we’re all pretty tired.
Sam was taken off CPAP today and is on a cannula now. He will continue to receive breathing assistance until surgery, but the cannula is much more comfortable for him than the CPAP and he’s been doing fantastic at breathing with minimal assistance!
He passed more meconium this morning as well, which is an indicator that his intestines and bowels are still working well. With his heart condition, blood flow to the lower half of his body is reduced, so we’re constantly checking to make sure things like this are still functioning normally. After surgery, the blood flow to the lower half of his body will be normal and we won’t have to worry about things like this anymore.
We are still planning for another echocardiogram tomorrow and surgery Thursday morning, unless there are any significant changes before then.
