Sam is continuing to recover well from surgery.
He needed a blood transfusion today because his hemoglobin was down, but it’s common for that to happen and isn’t anything to worry about.
The arterial line that was put in to monitor his blood pressure was taken out this evening because his blood pressures look great!
His chest tube, which is draining any fluid that accumulates near his incision, will come out either tomorrow or Monday. Once the tube is out, he will be able to move from the cardiac unit back to the NICU and hopefully back to CDH in the near future.
He hasn’t needed any medicine for pain control since last night. He was alert today and did not seem uncomfortable.
He also got to start on breast milk again through his feeding tube today.
Overall a great day for Super Sam!
